Buckfastleigh Resident’s Association, who have transformed a local piece of waste ground into a lovely play park, put out a call for children’s drawings that should show things you can see in Buckfastleigh. The drawings featured the bridge to the millennium orchard, the old church and farm on the hillside, sheep, a pony, clouds, sun, frogs, the river marble, fish, ducks and so on. The drawings were then scaled up and transferred onto marine ply to be attached to the wall of the play park. Over a fun two days in the town hall, local residents of all ages were invited to come and help paint the drawings. We also made mosaics. Later the pictures and mosaics were all varnished and attached to the wall in barn park, where everyone can see them everyday. It continues to transform a rather dull and tired looking corner of Buckfastleigh!
